When the good doctor slapped life into Carlo D’Amore that middle-of-the-night in Lima Peru some thirty years ago, his scream could no doubt be heard all the way to Machu Pichu! He has been roaring ever since with his indomitable spirit and his uniquely theatrical style. At the forefront of a growing trend of multi-ethnic personalities, Carlo certainly qualifies. Part Incan Indian, Italian, French and Spanish with a healthy splash of zany, he has been delighting both audiences and critics alike with his unique and energetic presence from an early age. His family, as with many immigrants, were in high position in their native Peru before relocating to the bay area of northern California. Carlo was eleven and not only took the shift in stride but became an instant part of the theatrical scene there. He was one of the youngest performers to appear at San Francisco’s legendary MAGIC THEATRE, which has spawned such talents as Ed Harris and Robert Woodruff, to name a few. Of the many productions in which he was featured in California several are particularly noteworthy as they influenced his style and direction at the same time. "NIGHT TRAIN TO BOLINAS" and "A PARK IN OUR HOUSE" by Pulitzer winning playwright Nilo Cruz gave D’Amore a reconnect with his heritage and ethnic uniqueness. "DOG OPERA" by Constance Congdon gave him the beginnings of how to bring that essence to his performance work. 


After becoming a part of the world-renowned THEATRE RINOCEROS, including starring in the highly acclaimed one-man work , "MEN ON THE VERGE OF A HIS-PANIC BREAKDOWN" by Guillermo Reyes, he appeared in three other productions there including "TWELFTH NIGHT" Directed by acclaimed director Danny Schei.  He continued honing his image and onstage personae. He originated the role of Actor # 4 in the pilot educational program: RED LADDER THEATRE COMPANY. at San Jose Repertory Theater, which is now in it's tenth year.  Asked to join the innovative actor-training program at American Conservatory Theater (ACT), he appeared with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival Shakespeare in the Park and touring companies. With SF Shakes some of his favorite roles were Touchstone and Silvius in "AS YOU LIKE IT" and Thisbe in Midsummer Night’s Dream.



His transition to New York was seamless having had the amazing opportunity to work on BROADWAY with David Warren at the Roundabout's production of "SUMMER AND SMOKE".  And in LATINOLOGUES directed by Cheech Marin at The Helen Hayes Theater were he played nine different characters, for an amazing 106 performances.


After which he went on to work at different venues around town including Lucile Lortel Theater, Rattlestick Theater, The Lark, Urban Stages, Repertorio Spanol, Ensemble Studio Theater, Manhattan Playhouse, Nada 45, The Theater at Riverside Church, and Saint Veronica's Church.


Carlo is a member of Houses on the Moon, a social action theater company whose mission is to present socially conscious material in an effort to elicit discussion and awareness on a variety of relevant issues ranging from GLBT youth, Loss and Mourning, addiction, and Human Rights. With this company Carlo has traveled nation wide, performing at colleges and universities, and festivals. Carlo was awarded The Craig Hardesty Award for best male ensemble performance at the Columbus Ohio Theater Festival for his work on the play "HOUSE ON THE MOON"


He is also a founding member of ENTERO an international avante Garde physical theater company and under the direction Colombian artistic director: Javier Gutierrez he has played Frederick in Strindberg's "THE PELICAN" Ciron in Fabio Rubiano's "MOSCA" an adaptation of TITUS ANDRONICUS. Tschub in Chekhov's "THE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL" and Tajamaru the Bandit in "RASHOMON"


Carlo’s film and television credits: "I THE SINNER/ YO PECADOR" in Bogota, Colombia, where he was awarded El Oso De Oro award.  An in house project for FORTY ACRES AND A MULE-Spike Lee's production company, directed by Spike Lee. “WHEN IN ROME” an Angelica Houston film soon to be released by Disney. Lead roles in two of Miles Khan's award winning short films: "THE TOOL" and "FLY TRAP". Both films have played internationally with "Fly Trap" winning awards at Canes and Slam-Dance festivals. The principal role of Mario in Lion's Gate feature film "STATE PROPERTY II" directed by Damon Dash. His television debut was in the critically acclaimed series OZ, in the role of Brent Drill, in episode six "A DAY IN THE DEATH" co-staring with Rita Moreno, and directed by Tom Fontana.



As a playwright: He most recently premiered his autobiographical play “NO PAROLE” to rave reviews at the San Francisco Playhouse. Critics compared “NO PAROLE” to the work of film makers Martin Scorsese and Pedro Almodovar. “NO PAROLE” was named one of the top ten plays of the year in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007. “NO PAROLE has been picked up for a run at The Sacramento Theater Company winter of 2008, and a subsequent run at The Marsh in San Francisco.
